The Malaria vaccine is available at all health facilities. The vaccine is administered to babies between 6 and 18 months. Protect your child with 4 doses at 6, 7, 8 and 18 months. Parents and caregivers, Ensure that your child gets all 4 doses of the vaccine to protect them from severe Malaria and death. Don't forget to maintain a clean environment and sleep under a mosquito net every night.
Uganda launched a major malaria vaccine rollout in April 2025, introducing the R21/Matrix-M vaccine into its routine immunization program. The vaccine is initially targeting 1.1 million children under two years of age in 105 high and moderate malaria transmission districts, with plans for nationwide expansion. The vaccine is administered in four doses at 6, 7, 8, and 18 months of age.
Uganda is the 19th African country to introduce the malaria vaccine into its routine immunization program. The launch event was supported by WHO, GAVI, UNICEF, and other partners. The vaccine is expected to significantly reduce severe malaria cases and related deaths, particularly among young children.
